Currently, riders are cycling 75 miles and over 3000 feet of climb as they reach the halfway point of the race across Iowa. In just two days time, our community will welcome them. Progress Made: Mt. Pleasant School Board Discusses Master Planning for Future of the District
The Mount Pleasant Community School Board met in special session on Monday evening in what turned out to be a full night of discussion. The first big ticket item was an update on the Mount Pleasant Community Daycare and the sharing of space with the school district. At a previous meeting, a representative with the daycare met with the board and proposed a before and after school program, which would benefit both the district and the city.
Louisa County Fair Opens Tomorrow
The fairgrounds in Columbus Junction will be buzzing tomorrow with the start of the 2024 Louisa County Fair. The annual event continues through Saturday, July 27. In truth, initial activities began over the weekend, but things ramp up on Tuesday with non-stop shows and judging from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Shows continue each day of the fair, with kids games, competitions, and grandstand entertainment beginning on Wednesday. At the grandstand that day is Impact Pro Wrestling, followed by stock car races Thursday, and the Twin States Truck & Tractor Pull Association on Friday.
