    Construction around Spokane making progress

SPOKANE, Wash. - Warm weather means construction season in the Inland Northwest.

A couple of big projects in Spokane have lead to traffic delays and frustrated drivers, but there might be a light at the end of the tunnel.

Drivers heading northwest of downtown Spokane on Monroe Street have faced lane closures for a grind and overlay project. As of now, it's in the third phase of its four step process.

A city official said the paving is scheduled to start next week, which will result in additional lane restrictions.

But, on the other side of town, the construction on 29th Ave. has made good progress and appears to be wrapping up.

All lanes on 29th near the Lincoln Heights Shopping Center are open.

The construction caused major congestion and significant delays in the area. Its finished result will incorporate more ramps and smoother roads.

29th Ave. from Southeast Blvd. to Arthur is still down to one lane each way.
