Woman accused of murdering father pleads guilty before attorney changes plea

SPOKANE, Wash. -- The woman arrested for planning the murder of her father initially pleaded guilty at her arraignment Tuesday, but her attorney said she misspoke, and the judge accepted the changed plea.

In Spokane Superior Court, the judge asked 31-year-old Alyssa Bradburn if she understood the charge of first-degree murder to which Bradburn replied, "Yes."

The judge then asked Bradburn how she pleaded. Bradburn paused for a moment before leaning into the microphone and said, "Guilty."

Bradburn's attorney quickly said she misspoke and pleads not guilty. The judge accepted the not guilty plea.

Bradburn was arrested in the shooting death of 68-year-old Timothy Bradburn at their Spokane home June 25.

Court documents say Bradburn confessed to the killing and told law enforcement she had planned for weeks to shoot Timothy.

Her next court appearance is scheduled for August 5.
