Spokane's interim police chief leaving to join Spokane County Sheriff's Office

SPOKANE, Wash. - Spokane's interim police chief Justin Lundgren will be leaving his position next week to work at the Spokane County Sheriff's Office.

Lundgren said he's worked alongside the sheriff for years and feels the Sheriff's Office is a good fit for him.

He said he knew his position as interim chief was only short-term and he's looking forward to helping the new chief Kevin Hall transition into the department.

"It provides me an opportunity to come in from the outside and be able to be a fresh set of eyes in the organization and learn as much as I can," Lundgren said.

Lundgren said going forward, the number of shootings in the city is one of the biggest challenges the department faces.
