SPOONER — Everything is quiet; the morning sun has not yet topped the horizon. Suddenly, the silence is broken by the distinctive putt-putt-putt of an old tractor pulling into the Washburn County Fairgrounds to get ready for the Antique Tractor Show. It is a sound that takes many back to the days of childhood and wonderful memories on the farm.

Things start to come to life as the smell of pancakes on the grill mix with that of sizzling sausages. Giggling children excitedly pet baby farm animals nearby, and old friends get together for some conversation and a great breakfast. Moments later, old-time music begins to play and an elderly couple begins to dance. This scene has become a tradition in Spooner.

Celebrate June Dairy Month on Saturday at the Tri-County Dairy Breakfast in Spooner.

Breakfast will be served at the Washburn County Fairgrounds in Spooner from 6:30 to 10:30 a.m. The breakfast is now handicap-accessible, with access assistance available. Kids under age 5 eat for free.

Enjoy pancakes hot off the grill, with maple syrup and honeybutter. There will be tasty sausages, cheese, ice cream and strawberries, milk, juice and hot coffee. Free ice cream cones are included with breakfast!

Music to enjoy and dance will be provided by Tommy Ray. Where else can you dance to old favorites under the big blue Wisconsin sky at 6:30 a.m. on a beautiful June morning?

Besides the always-popular breakfast, there will be face painting, a barrel train ride, door prizes, prizes for the kids, the FFA Alumni Silent Auction, an antique tractor display and farm animals in the Kiddie Barn.

How do you get to the Dairy Breakfast in Spooner? Coming from the north on Highway 63, take a right on Beaver Brook Avenue. Coming from the south on Highway 63, take a left on Beaver Brook Avenue.
