    Area will celebrate July 4

    On Thursday, July 4, America will celebrate her 248th birthday. With fireworks and boat parades, picnics and get-togethers, this area will celebrate the land of the free and home of the brave, the greatest nation on earth. Here is a look at what will be happening locally.

    Spooner

    The City of Spooner will celebrate on Thursday, July 4, with fireworks under the direction of the Spooner Fire District.

    Spooner’s fireworks display will begin at 10 p.m. in the hills between Spooner Elementary School and Spooner High School. The parking lots of both schools would be a great place for viewers to get a good look at the fireworks display.

    Shell Lake

    In Shell Lake, Independence Day will be celebrated with a street dance and fireworks over the lake on Wednesday, July 3. The celebration, presented by the Shell Lake Chamber of Commerce, will take place from 8 p.m. to midnight.

    Live music at the popular street dance will once again be provided by the band Sushi Roll.

    Good viewing of the fireworks display at dusk can be had on the beach, from the street or by boat on the lake.

    Long LakeLong Lake will have a Boat Parade on July 4. Meet at The Narrows to decorate boats, then cruise around the north end of the lake. The lead boat begins at 1 p.m.

    There will be fireworks at dusk, presented by the Long Lake Chamber of Commerce, on the east side of the main island, viewable from Summers on Long Lake, Pioneer and Lincolnwood, or best with a boat!

    Stone LakeThe Stone Lake Lions Club will have a fireworks show at 8:30 p.m., or dusk, on Thursday, July 4, at the Stone Lake Lions Park.

    SirenSiren will celebrate Independence Day with two big days of activity. On Wednesday, July 3, enjoy the Siren Street Dance, featuring The Dweebs, 8 p.m. to midnight on Siren’s Main Street.

    On Thursday, July 4, start the day at 8 a.m. with the 44th-annual Freedom 5K Race, starting on Main Street. At 9:45 a.m., take in the comical Bed Races on Main Street, with the Kids Mini Parade after the Bed Races.

    The Grand Parade will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Main Street. The 2024 theme — Light Up Your 4th of July. Grand Marshal is Bruce Maurer. To participate in the parade, contact Greg, 715.349.2954.

    At 2 p.m., enjoy the Siren Boat Parade on Crooked Lake. The Community Band Concert is at 8 p.m. at Crooked Lake Park Bandshell.

    Sirens Lions Club fireworks will light up the night sky over Crooked Lake at dusk.

    WebsterWebster’s July 4 Celebration will have various events going on all day, including the Fireman’s Ball Challenge, and much more. The Parade is on Main Street at 1:30 p.m.

    There will be fireworks on Saturday, July 6. Music, food and beverages begin at 7 p.m. at the Central Burnett County Fairgrounds in Webster. Fireworks will start at dusk.

    GordonIndependence Day will be celebrated during Gordon Good Neighbor Days July 5-7. On Saturday, July 6, the Gor-Don-A-Thon 5K run starts at 8 a.m. There is a Pancake Breakfast from 8 to 11 a.m. From 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., there are vendors and crafters.

    The Parade is on Saturday, July 6, at 2 p.m. with a red, white and blue Fourth of July theme. No registration is needed. Line up at noon on Old Highway 53.

    There will be fireworks on Saturday, July 6, starting at dusk at the ballpark in Gordon. Other July 6 events include a Car Show and Tractor Show.
