Spooner council approves license for NW Station
SPOONER — The Spooner City Council approved a Class B combination liquor license for The NW Station, formerly Jerseys in the Civic Center, at their Tuesday, June 4 meeting. Jerseys, the restaurant located in the Spooner Civic Center, closed a few months ago. Now, with the Northwest Express hockey team coming to play at the center from Minnesota for the Midwest West division, team owner Joe Dibble will be running The NW Station. Wine, food tasting raises $15,000+ for Police Foundation
SPOONER — The Spooner Area Chamber of Commerce and the community helped raise $15,598.17 at the April 25 Food & Wine Tasting benefit for the Spooner Police Foundation and presented the check to the foundation on Friday, May 31. There were over 200 food and beverage vendors from the area participating at the new venue for this year’s event, the Burch Barn in Spooner. Four running for Hayward Musky Festival queen
Four area young women are running for queen of the 2024 Hayward Musky Festival. The Musky Queen Scholarship Program is presented by Hayward Dairy Queen. The candidates will participate in interviews with the judges at a luncheon on Thursday, June 20, at Holiday Inn Express. Woman gets probation for spitting in officer’s eye
A Rice Lake woman was sentenced to probation on Tuesday on charges filed after police say she punched and kicked a process server, spit in an officer’s eye and resisted arrest at the Rice Lake Public Library in November 2022. Amy S. Seeger, 39, had been facing four charges on Tuesday going into Barron County Circuit Court. Musky Fest fishing contest to be held June 20-22
The Hayward Lakes Chapter of Muskies Inc. and the Hayward Bass Club will host the 2024 Hayward Musky Festival catch-and-release fishing contest June 20-22 on area lakes, rivers and flowages. Fishery biologist to speak at Stone Lake
The Stone Lake Historical Society will host a presentation by Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources fishery biologist Craig Roberts at 7 p.m. Wednesday June 19 at the Stone Lake Town Hall.
