Heartbreaking seconds: 'Dockers fall in sectional final
In what amounted to hardly more than the blink of an eye, the Ashland Oredockers girls soccer team’s stellar season, which included an unblemished HON Conference championship record, and a return trip to state came to a heartbreaking end in the final seconds of a 1-0 loss to the Rice Lake Warriors in the WIAA D3 Sectional Finals at Rice Lake on June 8. With just four ticks remaining in regulation after 80 minutes of action, rising Warriors freshman Audriana Schultz put the ball in the net to propel Rice Lake to the win and a berth at state for the first time since 2018. The Warriors enter the championship semifinals, to be played on June 14 at Uihlein Soccer Park in Milwaukee, with a 12-5-1 record. The Oredockers finish 19-3-1. Police in Wisconsin continue search for missing woman nearly one month after she was last seen
RICE LAKE, Wis. (WFRV) – Authorities in northwestern Wisconsin say the search for a missing 39-year-old woman who has not been seen since May 13 continues. On May 25, the Rice Lake Police Department posted on its Facebook page that it was trying to find Melissa Davis after her family didn’t talk to her in ‘several’ weeks. A few days later on May 29, the police department says that Davis was last seen on foot in the area of Allen Street and Main Street around 6:45 p.m. on May 13.
Two Hayward residents face more than 40 charges connected to series of burglaries
Two people from Hayward are facing a total of 44 charges of theft, burglary and damage to property in Bayfield County. Authorities say Logan M. Melton, 22, and Melissa Thorp, 37, who live together, stole two cars, a boat, firearms, an ATV, bikes and other items as part of a string of burglaries between March and July 2023. Former Danbury Woman Charged With Carjacking, OWI, And Battery
BURNETT COUNTY (DrydenWire) - A former Danbury, WI, woman is charged with carjacking, vehicle theft, and OWI in Burnett County. The charges were filed against Alyssia Benjamin, age 26, following an investigation by Burnett County law enforcement and St. Croix Tribal law enforcement into reports of a stolen truck.
