LSU starter suspended after disturbing arrest

LSU Tigers cornerback Javien Toviano has bigger issues to worry about than football.

Gabby Jimenez and Wilson Alexander with NOLA.com reported that Toviano turned himself into authorities on Sunday after being accused of video voyeurism. The arrest warrant stats that the LSU cornerback is accused of recording himself having sex with a woman without her consent, using a camera hidden inside of a clock. The woman allegedly discovered multiple videos on Toviano's iPad of the two of them having sex.

The warrant also states that he admitted to using a secret camera to record the woman during an interview with detectives. The woman claimed that he had recorded the two of them multiple times despite her requests not to do so.

The Tigers announced shortly after that Toviano had been suspended from all team activities, but did not provide further comment.

A 4-star recruit out of Arlington, Texas, Toviano was a top-100 player nationally in the class of 2023. His offers included top college football programs like the Michigan Wolverines and Alabama Crimson Tide, but he opted instead to play for LSU.

Toviano started in three games with 13 appearances last season. He finished the season with 33 total tackles and one pass deflection.

There was a very real chance of Toviano working his way into the starting lineup for the Tigers this season. Instead, he'll be stepping away from the program as authorities continue to work out his arrest and pending trial.

It's unclear what happens next, but it appears that Toviano is cooperating with authorities at this time.
