Drew Lock injury: Giants GM provides update on quarterback's hip

New York Giants quarterback Drew Lock is dealing with a hip injury he suffered during Thursday night's preseason opener against the Detroit Lions .

With Daniel Jones and most of the starters getting the night off, Lock got the start under center. He played 13 snaps before exiting the game due to a hip injury.

Lock left near the end of the first quarter with the injury, but general manager Joe Schoen provided an update during the game on Lock's injury saying the quarterback is fine.

He also said Lock could have returned to the game if needed but considering the elements and the fact that it's the preseason opener, the Giants opted to play it safe.

Even before the injury, Lock was struggling as the starter. He completed 4-of-10 passes for 17 yards, an interception and an 8.3 passer rating.

Even though Schoen said Lock would be able to return if necessary, the Giants might want to add a fourth quarterback to the roster for the final preseason game so that they won't have to lean on Lock and Tommy DeVito so much in a meaningless contest.
