You'll find no shortage of people in any industry who will tell you all kinds of wonderful things about their boss if you ask. Professional defensive backs have to live on truth by definition though, so you'll usually get a straight story from them. On that count, it seems like Seattle's young core on the back end of the defense genuinely respects and likes new Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald.

Throughout the offseason we've heard nothing but lavish praise for Macdonald from his players, with everyone from Devon Witherspoon to Tre Brown chiming in with their own anecdotes on his personality and football intelligence. The latest chorus comes from third-year cornerback Riq Woolen , who called Macdonald a genius when he appeared on the Wyman & Bob show. Watch.

Talk is cheap, though. Macdonald's first actual test at the NFL level will come tomorrow night against Jim Harbaugh and the LA Chargers in the team's first preseason game. Macdonald told reporters yesterday that Geno Smith won't play , but some starters will.
