OKC Thunder fans outraged over not playing on Christmas Day

Yesterday, OKC Thunder fans took to X to express their frustrations with their team not playing on Christmas Day.

Last season, the Oklahoma City Thunder sat atop of the Western Conference as the number one seed led by MVP candidate Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Coach of the Year winner Mark Daigneault. With such an impressive resume, fans assumed they would be able to watch their team play in the most sought-after regular season game of the year.

Unfortunately, that was not the case. Typically, the most notable and/or successful teams get selected to play during Christmas Day, so many fans of the Thunder were left with many questions and emotions as to why the youngest team to ever be a one-seed in NBA history was left off, and what it will take to make it next year.

The last time the Thunder played in a Christmas Day game was in 2018. For further reference, Russell Westbrook, Paul George, and Steven Adams were still on the team.

The lineup of games, per Shams Charania , are as follows for the 2024-25 season:

Spurs at Knicks, Timberwolves at Mavericks, 76ers at Celtics, Lakers at Warriors, and Nuggets at Suns.

Hopefully, in the 2025-26 season the OKC Thunder will be selected to play on Christmas Day.
