At the trade deadline, the Los Angeles Dodgers made a key move to strengthen their starting rotation. The team acquired right-hander Jack Flaherty from the Detroit Tigers.

Flaherty drew the start on Friday night against the Pittsburgh Pirates. It was his home debut with his new team.

Unfortunately, he allowed four runs over 5 2/3 innings of work, but that didn't stop him from reaching a very impressive mark. The 28-year-old struck out 10 batters and received the win.

"Jack Flaherty reached double-digit Ks in his home debut!" Dodgers Territory wrote on Twitter.

Flaherty has dealt with more than his fair share of injuries over the past several years. However, he looks much more like his old self this year.

He made his Major League debut in 2017 with the St. Louis Cardinals and it didn't take long for him to become a key member of their rotation.

But after several injuries and struggles, he appears to have found his groove again, even with a few struggles against the Pirates on Friday. He is now 9-5 with a 2.97 ERA over 118 1/2 innings of work.

Flaherty also has recorded 150 strikeouts and has posted a WHIP of 1.00.

It will be interesting to see how the addition of Flaherty impacts the Dodgers down the stretch as they try to hold off the San Diego Padres and Arizona Diamondbacks and secure another division title.
