Denver Broncos receiver will make long-awaited return to field against Colts

The Denver Broncos will play just about every player on their 90-man roster in the first preseason game on Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts. But one of the best moments will be seeing Tim Patrick on the field again.

Patrick has missed the last two seasons, getting injured just days into training camp each time. It was a torn ACL in 2022 and a torn Achilles in 2023. Now at 30 years old, it could be tough for Patrick to get back in a groove.

This will be the first game he has played of any kind since January 8, 2022. He was coming off back-to-back 50-catch seasons and was expected to be a big part of the team's offense going forward. Now, his future remains unclear.

Tim Patrick is fighting for a roster spot

The Broncos have a good crop of talent at wide receiver and some tough cuts are coming at that position, to be sure. Patrick could easily be one of those.

Courtland Sutton, Marvin Mims, Josh Reynolds and Troy Franklin will likely be the team's top four receivers. Rookie Devaughn Vele is also making a strong push to make the team. That could leave Patrick as one of the odd men out or, at best, the No. 5 or 6 option on the depth chart.

It will be interesting to see how things shake out but for Broncos fans, they will at least get to see one of the more likable players on the entire roster finally back on the field doing what he loves to do.
