The Seattle Seahawks and the Los Angeles Chargers started out playing a low-scoring first quarter in their preseason matchup today at SoFi Stadium. As the second quarter got going, it came with an explosion of splash plays, and all of them wound up going in Seattle's favor.

Thanks to some solid defense from their starting unit and a few big plays from backup quarterback Sam Howell, third-year safety Coby Bryant and undrafted rookie running back George Holani, the Seahawks now lead the Chargers by a couple of touchdowns. Here's a quick look at some of the most critical plays of the first half from tonight's game.

    Sam Howell's first Seahawks touchdown

The scoring started when Howell found tight end Brady Russell for his first TD in a Seattle uniform.

Russell has also made a couple plays on special teams.

Coby Bryant picks off tipped Easton Stick pass

Just a few minutes later, a pair of safeties combined to force a turnover. K'Von Wallace's hit put Easton Stick's pass off-target, which was then tipped and intercepted by Coby Bryant.

Wallace and Bryant will likely get the most snaps at safety this year after starters Julian Love and Rayshawn Jenkins.

George Holani bounces outside, into the end zone

That set up UDFA running back George Holani - who was one of the under-the-radar rookies we picked as being worth a watch - to score on an 11-yard touchdown run.

Holani is competing with Kenny McIntosh for the number three spot on the running back depth chart beneath Ken Walker and Zach Charbonnet.

Seattle leads 13-0 with about five minutes left in the second quarter.
