Wide receivers from the University of Oklahoma have not had the best week. First, Jerry Jones tells CeeDee Lamb that his contract is not a priority. Then, Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Marquise “Hollywood” Brown goes down on the first play of his tenure with the team.

On the broadcast, Brown injured his shoulder on the play. He was able to make the catch from Pat Mahomes on the opening play of the game, but the injury seemed to have happened when he went down on his left shoulder.

Post-game, at his press conference, coach Andy Reid announced that Brown suffered a sternoclavicular joint dislocation and was hospitalized due to the injury. There is no timetable for his return, but his availability for Week 1 is now in question.

“Hollywood” Brown signed with the Chiefs this offseason after spending time in Arizona and Baltimore. He was drafted in the first round in 2019. In five seasons, Brown has only played in two complete seasons. Coming out of Oklahoma, his size was seen as a potential worrisome trait, but his route running and speed were good enough that the Cardinals took the chance on him.

He is expected to see a career renaissance with the Chiefs, let’s hope he is healthy enough to do that, and the injury isn’t significant.
