Bo Nix sees mixed results in first offensive drive of Broncos career

During the preseason opener for the Denver Broncos , Bo Nix came in on the team's third offensive possession.

After Jarrett Stidham had two drives that led to no points, with one ending in an interception on a pass off the hands of Samaje Perine, Nix came in and had some up-and-down moments. Nix came in for 11 plays, going 2-of-6 passing for 33 yards.

After a pair of run plays to Jaleel McLaughlin, Nix threw two incompletions, the first of which was nearly intercepted on a deep pass over the middle to Greg Dulcich. But on 3rd-and-10, he made a great throw to Courtland Sutton while rolling toward the boundary for a gain of 22 yards.

After an 11-yard pass to Josh Reynolds put the Broncos near the red zone, it looked like Nix could lead the team to pay dirt on his first drive of the preseason. But on the very next snap, Nix fumbled the exchange from center. He fell on the ball to keep possession before throwing two more incompletions.

On second down following the bad snap, he threw a ball into the end zone that went just by the fingertips of Reynolds. On 3rd-and-11, the Colts sent a blitz at Nix and he tried to throw a screen pass to McLaughlin that also fell incomplete.

However, the drive did result in a field goal, the first points of the preseason for Denver.

Bo Nix shows plenty for Broncos fans to be encouraged about

Nix had some shaky throws, but he seemed to read the defense well. His throw to Sutton was great and the pass in the end zone to Reynolds could have been caught for what would have been a spectacular touchdown.

Stidham got the start and was 4-of-7 passing for 37 yards with the interception. Nix is scheduled to start the next preseason game against the Green Bay Packers.

With more time on the field working with the starting unit, Nix should be able to secure the starting job by the time the season starts.
