Rams QB's preseason showing brings up bad memory of ex-Steelers QB

The Los Angeles Rams played their first preseason game of 2024 on Sunday against the Dallas Cowboys and it was a rough day for quarterback Stetson Bennett, who tossed four interceptions in the winning effort.

Yes, we said winning effort. Somehow, not only did the Rams still find a way to win, 13-12, but Bennett actually threw the game-winning touchdown pass to tight end Miller Forristall in the closing seconds.

With his four interceptions, Bennett became the first quarterback since ex- Pittsburgh Steelers fourth-round pick and signal-caller Landry Jones to toss that many picks in a preseason game, according to ESPN Stats & Info .

Jones' four-interception game came during the preseason Week 2 game in 2016 versus the Philadelphia Eagles , a contest the Steelers ended up losing, 17-0. Landry completed 12-of-20 passes for 111 yards and the four picks in that game.

The Oklahoma product managed to bounce back the following week, completing 19-of-22 passes for 206 yards and a touchdown. Bennett will be hoping for a similar performance the next time he takes the field.

Jones ended up playing in 18 games (five starts) for the Steelers over three seasons, finishing his career with a 63.9% completion rate for 1,310 yards and eight touchdowns to seven interceptions.
