AEW Free Agency: Ricky Starks expected to depart for WWE once contract expires, per report

In all likelihood, you’ll soon/eventually see Ricochet appear on AEW programming and that’s a big get from the WWE pool, but it appears Tony Khan will break even thanks to the future of Ricky Starks; at least that’s if recent reports regarding Starks’ contract are true.

It’s been reported that Starks will likely wave goodbye to AEW once his current contract expires, per Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter , who notes many within AEW believe Starks will leave and that is why he’s not in an active storyline of any kind.

This doesn’t seem far-fetched at all when you take into account the fact Starks hasn’t been seen on AEW programming since Collision on March 30 — over four months ago. Other reports seem to cement the possible departure, citing mutual interest between Starks and WWE.

Starks, 34, began his wrestling career in 2012 and climbed the ranks of NWA (National Wrestling Alliance) in the late 2010s before signing on with AEW in 2020, where he’s remained ever since.

He’s held gold in that promotion, notably the FTW Championship, and could soon find himself pursuing a title in the WWE for the first time in his career.
