Detroit Lions' Jahmyr Gibbs, rookie CBs suffer injuries at Monday practice

The Detroit Lions had a rough day at practice on Monday, with three key players coming down with injuries, including running back Jahmyr Gibbs and rookie cornerbacks Terrion Arnold and Ennis Rakestraw Jr.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter , Gibbs suffered a hamstring injury, and per The Athletic's Colton Pouncy , Arnold is dealing with an upper body injury and Rakestraw Jr. has an ankle issue. The specifics and severity of each injury remains unknown as of this writing.

Gibbs dealt with a hamstring injury last season that forced him to miss time. He also missed work in the spring because of an unspecified soft-tissue injury. Gibbs is a key part of the Lions' offense and is expected to have a bigger role in 2024.

According to Jeremy Reisman of Pride of Detroit , the injuries to the two rookies occurred during one-on-one drills. Rakestraw tried to get back in for the 11-on-11 portion of practice but exited again after one series.

Arnold is projected to be the starter opposite Carlton Davis in his first season, while Rakestraw figures to serve as the Lions' top option off the bench. Speaking of Davis, he wasn't spotted at practice on Monday.

The Lions are already a bit short in the secondary after losing Emmanuel Moseley, who was competing for the slot cornerback job, to a torn pectoral muscle.
