Bills' receiver may have played last NFL game

The Buffalo Bills added a substantial amount of new receivers over the course of the 2024 offseason. The likes of Curtis Samuel, Mack Hollins, Keon Coleman, KJ Hamler, and Marquez Valdes-Scantling were added to the roster since the end of last season.

Another name that Buffalo brought in was Chase Claypool. The former second-round pick of the Pittsburgh Steelers has had quite the career arc thus far. After a terrific rookie campaign in 2020 that saw him catch 62 passes for 873 yards and 11 total touchdowns, including a four-touchdown game against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Claypool had 59 catches the following year, and was traded to the Chicago Bears in 2022. He finished that season with 46 catches for just 451 yards and one score. 2023 was even worse for the Notre Dame product, as he caught just four passes for the Bears before being traded again to the Miami Dolphins where he caught four more passes to end his season with a grand total of eight.

Claypool was signed by the Bills in early May, but unfortunately, his season will end before it starts. The Bills put Claypool on injured reserve with a toe injury, ending his season, and potentially his NFL career.

This was seen as a potential last chance for Claypool, and now he won’t even get the opportunity to put together a good preseason to make the Bills’ roster. Claypool was garnering interest from the CFL prior to signing with the Bills, so perhaps that could be his next step, because his NFL future is now very uncertain.
