Colts hold massive tryout for free agents, including a first-round pick

The Indianapolis Colts held a massive tryout for several free agents Tuesday, one of which was a former first-round pick in the NFL Draft.

According to Aaron Wilson of KPRC2 Houston , the Colts had a tryout for players across various positions.

The players participating in the workout included running backs Eno Benjamin, Joshua Kelley, Larry Rountree, SaRodorick Thompson; wide receivers Avery Davis, Kaylon Horton, Greg Ward Jr.; offensive tackle Jaylon Moore; edge rushers Taco Charlton, Porter Gustin, Derek Rivers; linebacker Justin Hollins.

It makes sense that the Colts would want to work out running backs after Trey Sermon's hamstring injury , which might signal a somewhat lengthy recovery time for the veteran running back.

The biggest name on the list is Charlton, the former first-round pick with the Dallas Cowboys in the 2017 NFL Draft. He never made good on that investment with 11.5 career sacks in 60 games (13 starts). He hasn't played in the NFL since 2022.

But he might be an intriguing depth addition with Samson Ebukam out indefinitely with a torn Achilles. Meanwhile, Genard Avery seemingly suffered an apparent injury during practice last week as well.

It will be interesting if any signings come from the mass workout from Tuesday so it will be something to keep an eye on.
