The New England Patriots have been negotiating with edge rusher Matthew Judon this offseason on a new deal, but it became evident that there was no way for them to reach an agreement.

Now, the Patriots have traded Judon to the Atlanta Falcons for a 2025 third-round pick, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

Judon made two Pro Bowls in his three seasons with New England. He finishes his time with the team with 133 tackles (33 for a loss), 62 quarterback hits, 32 sacks, four passes defensed, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery.

This is a great deal for the Patriots, as they get rid of an unhappy player and get real draft capital in return.

It may hurt their defense in 2024, but they'll now have a chance to give more opportunities to young players who could be part of this team's future.
