The Boston Red Sox lose the game 9-7 to the Texas Rangers but still win the series 2-1.

Sox starting pitcher Tanner Houck had a solid start, only giving up two runs in a little over six innings. Houck seems to be getting back in his groove in the past couple starts, giving the Sox a little bit of stress relief.

The hitting was great for the Sox, getting seven runs in eight innings. Only one homer, which was a solo shot by rookie Wilyer Abreu.

After Houck left, the game got bad real fast for the Sox. After the eighth inning, the Rangers scored seven of their runs. Multiple Rangers hit home runs, including Adolis Garcia who hit two of them, Wyatt Langford, who tied the game in the ninth, and Jonah Heim, who hit one in the top of the tenth.

Rangers closer Kirby Yates shut the door on the Sox, and now puts them 2.5 games back from third place in the AL Wildcard race. The Sox’s next series will be against the Orioles in Baltimore starting at 6:35pm EST.
