Star Oregon wide receiver named to Biletnikoff watch list

Oregon will have one of the more exciting offenses in college football this season. Bo Nix and Bucky Irving are off to the NFL; however, the Ducks have replacements to be among the best in the Big Ten.

A huge reason for this is the retention of offensive coordinator Will Stein. Stein led an Oregon offense that averaged over 44 points per game and helped Nix throw for over 4500 yards. Oklahoma transfer quarterback Dylan Gabriel takes over the reins at quarterback and is surrounded by weapons who picked up recent prestigious nominations.

Wideout Tez Johnson was recently nominated for the Biletnikoff trophy, highlighting the nation’s best wide receiver. Ohio State’s Marvin Harrison Jr. was last year’s recipient, racking up over 1,200 yards on the season.

Johnson had a solid junior season, accumulating 1,182 yards and ten touchdowns. An impressive finish to last season has people believing in another big year for Johnson, as he went over 100 yards in three of the Ducks’ final five games.

His partner in crime, Evan Stewart, is also poised for a big senior year. With most of the attention drawn to Johnson, the Texas A&M transfer who put up 514 yards and four touchdowns should get a lot of looks from Gabriel this season.

Oregon’s experienced offensive line will be the difference maker this season. The Ducks added Indiana transfer and right guard Matthew Bedford to a unit that will face some daunting Big Ten defensive lines, such as Ohio State, Michigan, and Wisconsin. If the offensive line can give Gabriel time to throw, this offense can certainly duplicate what they did last season.
