The New England Patriots have 13 players who spent the 2023 season with the team and are still free agents after two preseason games.

One of them, wide receiver Tre Nixon, announced his retirement from the NFL earlier this offseason so that he could focus on the next stage of his life. This week, Nixon took to social media to share exactly what that next step is - joining the Boston College Eagles football coaching staff.

Nixon joins Patriots offensive coordinator from 2023, Bill O'Brien, who is Boston College's head coach. Former Patriots director of football/head coach administration Berj Najarian also joined O'Brien this offseason as his chief of staff.

Nixon retired at 26 years old after three seasons in New England, and now he'll begin molding some of the NFL's future talent.
