Exciting Bears rookie called 'draft day steal' with 2024 season coming

The Chicago Bears had an impressive offseason.

Chicago took a step forward in 2023 and should be significantly better in 2024. The Bears added some weapons throughout the roster -- including receiver Keenan Allen and running back D'Andre Swift.

Most of the talk of the offseason has been the Bears' selecting phenom Caleb Williams to be the team's starting quarterback for the foreseeable future. Williams has looked great in preseason and has the makings to be a star.

He isn't the only Bears rookie getting high praise, though. Fifth-round draft pick Austin Booker has shined in camp and was called one of the "Draft Day Steals" by Bleacher Report's Kristopher Knox.

"Most of the offseason buzz surrounding the Chicago Bears has involved Williams, and to a lesser extent, fellow first-round pick Rome Odunze," Knox said. "However, rookie fifth-round pick Austin Booker has entered the conversation. The Bears entered the offseason needing a high-end pass-rushing complement opposite Montez Sweat. They may still target one of the remaining free-agent edge rushers, but it's beginning to look like Booker might be able to fill the void outright.

"It's only Game 1 of the preseason, but Booker certainly impressed in his debut. The Kansas product regularly pushed into the Buffalo Bills backfield and finished with 2.5 sacks, two tackles for loss, and four solo stops. The rookie has certainly caught the attention of defensive coordinator Eric Washington."

Things are looking up in Chicago.
