This week, Sunday Night Baseball is all about the kids.

The Yankees and Tigers are taking the final game of their series directly to MLB's youngest fans in the annual Little League Classic, barnstorming the home of the Little League World Series and playing in front of the next generation.

Children in attendance will get to see one of the best pitchers in baseball. Tigers ace Tarik Skubal will face Aaron Judge and Juan Soto as he looks to continue his Cy Young campaign and drop the Yankees back into a tie with the Orioles atop the AL East.

Only a select number of fans will actually get to see the game compared to the capacity of a typical MLB stadium, however.

Here's a closer look at the Little League Classic's location and capacity as the Yankees and Tigers face off.

Where is the MLB Little League Classic being played?

The Little League Classic is played at Bowman Field in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.

Williamsport is the annual host of the Little League World Series, which is held each August. MLB decided to take two teams directly to the event in 2017, scheduling the inaugural Little League Classic between the Pirates and Cardinals.

Bowman Field doesn't look anything like a standard MLB stadium, given its limited capacity, but it has existed for 98 years and has done well enough as a host to keep MLB coming back once a year since 2017.

In addition to the Little League Classic, Bowman Field also plays host to the Williamsport Crosscutters, a summer baseball team in the MLB Draft League that serves as a showcase for draft prospects.

Prior to the MLB Draft League's launch in 2021, the Crosscutters were part of the New York-Penn League as a minor-league affiliate of the Phillies (2007-2020), Pirates (1999-2006) and Cubs (1994-1998).

    Little League Classic stadium capacity

Bowman Field's official capacity is listed as 2,336. MLB has squeezed just over 2,400 fans into the venue for each Little League Classic — except for in 2021, when capacity was still limited due to the COVID-19 pandemic. (The Little League Classic did not take place in 2020, also due to the pandemic.)

Tickets for the Little League Classic are awarded via a lottery system, and much of the crowd is made up of young players participating in the Little League World Series. While the young fans tend to be energetic and passionate, the Little League Classic still offers a much quieter, toned-down atmosphere than a game attended by tens of thousands of fans.

    Little League Classic history

    Year Result Attendance
    2017 Pirates 6, Cardinals 3 2,596
    2018 Mets 8, Phillies 2 2,429
    2019 Cubs 7, Pirates 1 2,503
    2021 Indians 3, Angels 0 1,832
    2022 Orioles 5, Red Sox 3 2,467
    2023 Nationals 4, Phillies 3 2,473
    2024 TBD TBD

The Little League Classic made its debut in 2017, when the Pirates got the best of the Cardinals in Williamsport. The only interruption came in 2020, when the COVID-19 pandemic forced the cancellation of the event.

No team has won the Little League Classic more than once, and that will remain true after Sunday night as both the Yankees and Tigers are participating for the first time.
