Ohio State Ranks First in Recent Media Poll

In the most recent publication of The Athletic's 134 , a ranking of all FBS college football teams, senior writer Chris Vannini gave his thoughts and opinions on who ranked where.

The team that sat atop all of the other 133 teams was none other than The Ohio State Buckeyes. Last season, the Buckeyes ended the season as the 10th ranked team in the nation with a record of 11-2, with their only losses coming from Michigan and in the Cotton Bowl against Missouri.

However, this season is poised to be very different. Ohio State is bringing back a ton of experience , a talented recruiting class, and great transfers, as Vannini goes on to explain in his reasoning for Ohio State's first-place rank:

"Can Ohio State pull a Michigan? A veteran-laden team that saw star players come back to school to win it all, then made elite transfer additions like safety Caleb Downs and running back Quinshon Judkins, the Buckeyes look like the most complete roster top to bottom. And making the CFP may not require a win against Michigan this time".

With teams like Michigan in a "rebuild" mode with the recent departure of Jim Harbaugh and many players from last year's team gone, the sole team that stood in the way of Ohio State's perfect record is looking beatable.

But, as college football fans know, anything can happen. Michigan still ranks eighth on this list, and the newly integrated Big Ten Oregon Ducks place third in the poll (both teams which Ohio State has on their schedule).

Ohio State will face Oregon on October 12 (time TBD) and the Wolverines on November 30 at 12:00 PM EST.
