Last week, the New England Patriots made an anticipated move when they traded star linebacker Matthew Judon to the Atlanta Falcons for a 2025 third-round pick.

The transaction came after months of failed negotiations on a new contract or updated terms to their current deal. However, after the trade was made, Judon shed some more light on the discussions he had with the team and why he felt they didn't agree.

"We never sat down and came to the table... it was just always through text message or phone calls," Judon said (via. NBC Sports Boston). "We just never sat down and actually talked about. I think that was the biggest disconnect... For sure, I asked. I sent those messages through my agents, and I asked personally, but that's kinda where we left off."

Judon and the Patriots both did plenty of talking through the media about each other over the last few months, so it's interesting to hear that the two sides didn't actually sit down and have a conversation in person. That feels natural in these situations, especially when it's arguably the best player on the roster.

Now, Judon will surely be motivated to prove people wrong in Atlanta, even if New England did reportedly let him choose between two suitors.
