Dodgers manager Dave Roberts could be fired this fall, new report suggests

The Los Angeles Dodgers have clear aspirations to win a World Series in 2024, but if the Dodgers fall short, major organizational changes could follow.

In a piece published Monday entitled, "Ranking MLB's 10 'Real' Contenders for the 2024 World Series", Bleacher Report's Tim Kelly ranked Los Angeles at No. 3 while suggesting that Dodgers manager Dave Roberts could be fired if Los Angeles has a disappointing playoffs.

"While Roberts has helped guide the Dodgers to three NL pennants and a World Series title in 2020, there have been a few postseason disappointments during his nine seasons at the helm," Kelly said.

"If the Dodgers have an early October exit again, you wonder whether Roberts will be around for a 10th season as skipper in L.A."

What are the Dodgers' chances of avoiding failure in the playoffs, thereby taking Roberts off the hot seat? Los Angeles has arguably the best lineup in Major League Baseball, but their pitching remains a huge question mark.

Michael Kopech has been a bullpen revelation for the Dodgers since coming over before the deadline, but Roberts will be forced to squeeze quality out of an otherwise inconsistent 'pen and an array of injured or recovering starters.
