The New York Jets ' former starting fullback has landed with the Houston Texans .

After being released by the Jets on July 31, Nick Bawden will continue his NFL career with the reigning AFC South champion. The former seventh-round draft pick worked out for the Texans on Tuesday and agreed to terms shortly thereafter according to Houston-based reporter Aaron Wilson.

The 28-year-old Bawden worked out for the New England Patriots earlier this month before finding a home on Houston's 90-man roster.

New York activated Bawden from the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list on July 29 and sent him packing two days later to make room for veteran tight end Anthony Firkser .

Bawden initially landed with the Jets as a Practice Squad player in 2021. He missed the entire 2022 campaign due to injury before making 16 appearances in 2023. The 6-foot-2 fullback recorded 127 offensive snaps and 299 special teams reps last season.

In addition to serving as a solid lead blocker for Jets' RB1 Breece Hall, Bawden logged his first two career carries and one touchdown during the 2023 campaign. In New York's 30-6 win over Houston on December 12, he rushed once for three yards.
