The Boston Red Sox are in the middle of a playoff race, as they currently sit 3.5 games out of the third and final Wild Card spot with fewer than 40 games to go in the regular season.

While all eyes are on this year's team, it's not surprising that there's still quite a bit of attention being put on the farm system with Boston promoting Marcelo Mayer, Kyle Teel and Roman Anthony to Triple-A Worcester over a week ago and then promoted Kristian Campbell just days later.

With the team's future right on the doorstep of the major leagues, everyone is excited to see what the next year or so holds.

However, there are apparently some who are split on just who the best prospect of that quartet is.

Over the weekend, Peter Abraham wrote in The Boston Globe that “several pro scouts who have worked the Eastern League this season have said they believe Kristian Campbell is the best prospect in the organization.”

SoxProspects.com currently has the order as Anthony, Mayer, Teel, 2024 first-round pick Braden Montgomery and Campbell.

But, the 22-year-old's rise has been incredible. Campbell was a fourth-round pick last year. He started the 2024 season at High-A Greenville and he's been promoted twice since then.

In 56 games with Double-A Portland, Campbell hit .362 with a 1.045 OPS, eight home runs, 35 RBIs and 17 stolen bases. He's appeared in only one game with Worcester so far, and he recorded a pair of singles, three RBIs and a stolen base in his debut.

While Anthony, Mayer and Teel might be considered the top three, Campbell has certainly done enough to have his name up there with them, and he might end up being the best of the group.
