While the Tennessee Titans have a few promising young players at the tight end position going into 2024, they could use another veteran depth option.

As things currently stand, the Titans are set to have a duo of Chigoziem Okonkwo and Josh Whyle at the top of the depth chart , but things remain a bit murky behind them.

The only veteran on the roster at tight end is Nick Vannett, a journeyman who doesn't offer much outside of blocking. Another top candidate to make the roster is undrafted free agent David Martin-Robinson, who has been sensational over two preseason games but is a wild card at the position given his status as a rookie.

If the Titans want to bring in one more depth option ahead of the 2024 season, they might take a look at tight end C.J. Uzomah, who was released by the Philadelphia Eagles on Wednesday.

Of course, Uzomah has experience playing in head coach Brian Callahan's system from their days together with the Cincinnati Bengals , so he would be able to pick things up quickly this late in the offseason.

Uzomah spent the last two years with the New York Jets , where he tallied 29 catches for 290 yards and three touchdowns. But it's important to note that Zach Wilson was his quarterback for the majority of that time. His best season came under Callahan in 2018, when Uzomah finished with 439 receiving yards and three scores.

It wouldn't be at all surprising if Tennessee decided to kick the tires on him ahead of Week 1. He shouldn't stop the Titans from keeping DMR, but Uzomah does offer a more well-rounded option than Vannett.
