Last week we learned that starting quarterback Geno Smith and his representation have tried to talk about a new contract with the Seattle Seahawks' front office. This came via NFL Network reporter Mike Garafolo in an appearance on Jason Puckett's podcast. Shortly after, Smith purged his personal Instagram page of any photos or mention of the Seahawks, raising speculation that he might be in a contract dispute with the team.

Good news: Smith is posting again on his Instagram . Earlier this morning. Geno shared three photos from recent Seahawks practices, which would seem to contradict the idea that he's in a serious disagreement with the front office.

*Cue Stephen A. Smith voice* HOWEVER, there is also one additional photo at the end of Smith's post that's not from one of Seattle's recent training camp practices at the VMAC. The last picture in the reel shows a younger version of Geno Smith wearing a cap and gown, graduating from what appears to be grade school.

The more conspiratorial-minded among us might see a hidden message in that last photo, especially coming after three of Smith in a Seahawks uniform. One could interpret it as a message that Smith intends to graduate from this franchise after three years as their starting quarterback, which would be at the end of this coming season.

Smith still has one more year left on his contract after this one, though so unless the Seahawks allow Smith to "graduate" and move onto another team it won't happen. For now this idea should probably be kept in the X-Files where it belongs. It will be interesting to see what happens next offseason, though.
