Jets' Robert Saleh offers 10-word response to Haason Reddick question

Out of sight, out of mind.

That appears to be the case for Robert Saleh when it comes to thinking about New York Jets ' training camp holdout Haason Reddick. Two days away from the team's preseason finale, the Jets practiced without Reddick for the 19th time this summer.

As for whether or not Reddick will report for duty prior to the September 9 regular season opener on Monday Night Football, Saleh offered a 10-word statement on Thursday in Florham Park.

"I don't know. Honestly, I really haven't thought about it," said Saleh.

Although the Jets could use Reddick and his double-digit sack potential on the defensive front, Saleh has seemingly been operating under the assumption that the contract standoff could carry over into the regular season.

"It's not frustrating because I don't have control over it, but like I said, we're excited about our group. Still looking forward for him to get here when he's ready, and when he's ready we're going to embrace him with open arms," said Saleh on August 13 .

NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero suggested that Reddick's absence is not distracting his Jets teammates because the edge rusher never really arrived in the first place and isn't well known amongst the locker room.

Reddick, who led the Philadelphia Eagles in sacks last season, was traded to the Jets in late March. After being introduced, the New Jersey-born edge rusher declined to participate in voluntary OTAs and skipped mandatory June minicamp, too.

"It's not [a distraction]. I promise you it's not," said Saleh when pressed on the question earlier this month. "It's a great opportunity for the guys that are here. We love our D-line. We love our depth, especially at the defensive end position."
