Bo Nix's status for final preseason game officially revealed

    By Travis Wakeman,

The Denver Broncos will conclude the preseason on Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals. Bo Nix, recently named the team's starting quarterback for the 2024 season, will not play in the game.

The Broncos have seen enough from Nix and are comfortable with him becoming the first rookie starter for the team since 1983. Instead, it will be a mix of Jarrett Stidham and Zach Wilson. Stidham will get the start.

This is the right move and one that was likely expected by most Broncos fans. With the team making Nix the starter and the quarterback of the future, there is no sense of risking injury in a preseason game.

Jarrett Stidham, Zach Wilson will be featured in close battle

While head coach Sean Payton has likely known for quite some time that he was going to name Nix the starter, it is likely he hasn't chosen between Stidham and Wilson for the backup spot. It seems to be a coin-flip battle right now.

With there being a real chance that the Broncos keep all three quarterbacks on the final 53-man roster, what Stidham and Wilson do against the Cardinals is the game's biggest storyline for the Broncos.

The Broncos will face the Cardinals at Empower Field on Sunday. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:30 pm MT.
