Angel Reese stats today: Sky rookie becomes first WNBA player in history with back-to-back 20-rebound games

Angel Reese continues to rebound at a historic rate — and not just for a rookie.

The Sky superstar has been cleaning the glass all season. She leads the WNBA with 21 double-doubles, 352 total rebounds, 142 offensive rebounds, and 12.6 rebounds per game.

Reese didn't just pad her league-best position on the boards in Friday's close two-point loss to the Sun — she made history doing it.

Angel Reese makes WNBA history with back-to-back 20-rebound games

Reese is already the best rebounder in the WNBA. It's that simple.

The Sky rookie went for 19 points and 20 rebounds (10 offensive) in Sunday's loss to the Mercury.

She carried that momentum in Friday's game, ripping off 13 points and 20 rebounds.

Even in a game where she shot 3-for-12 from the field in a two-point loss, Reese left her mark. She became the first player in WNBA history to have back-to-back 20-rebound games.

She also joined the great Tina Charles — who just became the WNBA's second all-time leading scorer — as the only rookies in league history to have multiple 20-rebound games in a single season.

If you go across to the NBA, Reese is the first rookie in American professional basketball to have back-to-back 20-rebound games since Shaquille O'Neal in 1993 .

Reese's individual accolades aside, the Sky are fighting to stay in the WNBA Playoff picture with 12 games remaining.

Chicago holds the final playoff spot (No. 8 seed) with an 11-17 record, owning a one-game lead over the Dream. The Sky are 2.0 games back from Caitlin Clark and the Fever, who hold down the No. 7 seed.
