Chelsea's pursuit of Victor Osimhen may be coming to an end, as Napoli's star striker is on the verge of joining Al-Ahli in Saudi Arabia.

Despite Chelsea's long-standing interest, it seems the Nigerian forward is more likely to swap Italy for the Middle East in a deal reportedly worth over €65 million ($73m).

According to Fabrizio Romano, negotiations between Napoli and Al-Ahli are almost complete, with only a few minor details left to finalize.

The deal would give Osimhen the exit he's been seeking all summer, especially after not featuring in Napoli's opening Serie A games. However, Osimhen has yet to agree to personal terms, with reports suggesting he wants a significant salary and a release clause in his contract.

Osimhen test to accept terms with Al-Ahli

If Osimhen doesn't accept the terms, the deal could fall apart, but the clock is ticking for Chelsea.

The Premier League transfer window closes in just four days, and new manager Enzo Maresca hinted that they might still be in the market for a striker: "If we have the chance to bring in a nine that can help us and make the difference, then we are going to try. Otherwise, we are okay."

With time running out, Chelsea may have to settle for their current striker options, Nicolas Jackson and Marc Guiu, unless they can pull off a last-minute signing.

Meanwhile, Al-Ahli has until October 6, when the Saudi Pro League transfer window closes, giving them a bit more flexibility. However, Napoli will want a quick resolution to secure a replacement for Osimhen before the window shuts.
