New York Giants defensive tackle Timmy Horne suffered a brutal injury during the final preseason game against the New York Jets .

Horne was a part of the first wave of roster cuts Sunday after it was revealed he suffered a torn Achilles during the preseason finale. He suffered the injury on the first play from scrimmage.

The former undrafted free agent was waived with an injury designation, which means he could revert back to the team's Reserve/Injured list if he clears waivers.

The Giants signed Horne during the 2023 regular season from the Atlanta Falcons practice squad. He appeared in one game.

It was likely going to be difficult for Horne to make the initial 53-man roster due to the emergence of undrafted free agent rookie Elijah Chatman, but the former was a candidate for the practice squad.

However, the brutal nature of a torn Achilles likely means Horne's season is over, barring a surprisingly quick recovery.

The Giants have until Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. ET to make the necessary moves for the initial 53-man roster.
