Caitlin Clark's marathon summer continues on Monday when the Fever take on the Dream.

The Iowa product has Christie Sides' squad flying as of late, with Indiana vanquishing six of its past 10 foes as it attempts to shore up its playoff chances. Clark's performances in August have been nothing short of wondrous, as she's averaging 25.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 9.0 assists on 47.2/34.5/93.8 shooting splits.

Not only has Clark impressed, but she's also faced some of the stiffest competition in the W in the process, including Olympic hero Kahleah Copper, Jewell Loyd, and Kayla McBride.

She won't get much of a reprieve on Monday night, either. Clark and Indiana's middling defense will attempt to ward off Atlanta and its star guard, Rhyne Howard.

A former Rookie of the Year and two-time All-Star, Howard is one of the W's most captivating talents, a 6-2 guard with an uncanny ability to get to the cup.

The stars will be out and about when Clark and Howard take the floor at Gateway Center Arena in College Park, Georgia. A victory would go a long way in creating distance between the Fever and the rest of the Eastern Conference pack; they're currently 2.5 games in front of the ninth-seeded Dream.

Caitlin Clark highlights vs. Atlanta Dream

Clark started the contest with a flourish, sinking a triple after evading surveillance off the ball.

She took a backseat for much of the first half, handing the reins of the offense to fellow All-Star Kelsey Mitchell, who led the way with 16 points. Clark had her moments of offensive vigor, showing off a delicate floater to start the second frame.

And after misfiring on one three-point attempt, Clark immediately took — and sank — another one after Lexie Hull kept the possession alive.

By and large, though, Clark was the team's leading playmaker. She dished out three dimes across the first 20 minutes of action. There very well could have been more for the 22-year-old megastar. But a rolled ankle, suffered just as the first quarter neared its close, cost Clark some valuable end-of-quarter minutes.

Although she was able to overcome her brief malady in the second, the counting numbers behind her early-game performance still faltered, at least when compared to her season averages.
