The Tennessee Titans are releasing cornerback Caleb Farley ahead of Tuesday's 4 p.m. ET roster deadline, which I am sure was a difficult decision for general manager Ran Carthon and the Titans' brass. Adam Schefter was the first to report on the news.

Farley was taken in the first round, No. 22 overall, of the 2021 NFL draft with the hope that he could get past his lengthy injury history at Virginia Tech. However, he suffered a torn ACL in just his third game, forcing him to miss the remainder of his rookie season.

Farley was limited to just nine games, including one start, in 2022 as his sophomore season was cut short because of recurring back injuries. The cornerback underwent back surgery and missed all of the following season due to lingering back issues.

The 25-year-old came into training camp with a clean bill of health. However, he suffered a hamstring early on in camp and missed a few weeks before returning for the Titans' preseason Week 3 matchup in New Orleans.

In what was Farley's first game action since November 13, 2022, he recorded a big hit late in the third quarter and was visibly excited following the play.

If he goes unclaimed, he could be a practice squad candidate.

Here is how Titans' Twitter reacted to the news:
