Bears cut veteran cornerback who will ‘have interest from teams immediately’

The Chicago Bears are finalizing their roster, which means that a few deserving, valuable players will be cut.

Despite all of the hype surrounding Caleb Williams and the aerial weaponry Chicago has surrounded him with in the form of an elite receiving corps, the Bears’ strength during preseason and training camp appears to be defense.

Chicago’s front office has been searching for ways to improve that already robust defense this summer, and now the Bears are trimming their defensive personnel as the regular season approaches.

On Tuesday, it was announced by NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo that Chicago released veteran cornerback Greg Stroman. Garafolo also indicated that Stroman will receive immediate interest from other teams this week.

“The Bears have informed veteran CB Greg Stroman he’ll be released,” Garafolo said. “Stroman had a strong preseason but it’s a numbers game in a deep Chicago secondary. Should have interest from teams immediately, as he’s not subject to waivers.”

Stroman has been a member of the Bears since 2022. He was drafted by Washington with the No. 241 overall pick in the 2018 NFL draft.
