Patriots land offensive tackle with starting experience in proposed trade

The New England Patriots are gearing up for the start of their first regular season under head coach Jerod Mayo and executive vice president of player personnel Eliot Wolf.

New England has spent Tuesday trimming down their roster to the 53 players mandated by the league by their 4:00 p.m. ET deadline . However, they'll need to quickly turn the page and focus on adding talent to their roster again.

One area the Patriots need to be targeting for an upgrade is the offensive line, and Bleacher Report's Alex Kay has a player that Wolf and company should target via trade - Chicago Bears offensive tackle Larry Borom.

Borom, 25, was a fifth-round selection of the Chicago Bears in 2021 out of Missouri. Through his first three seasons, he's appeared in 39 games and started 23 mostly split between right tackle (1,012 snaps) and left tackle (493 snaps).

Pro Football Focus gave Borom a 45.2 pass-blocking grade, a 50.4 run-blocking grade and a 48.0 overall grade in 2023 when he saw 408 snaps at left tackle.

Kay believes New England could get him from Chicago for a 2025 sixth-round pick. If the Patriots can't find any better options, they should pursue this move, but there may be more intriguing tackles available.
