Red Sox down Blue Jays 6-3 on Tuesday, snap five-game losing streak

On Tuesday night, the Boston Red Sox hosted the Toronto Blue Jays at Fenway Park for their third of five games in the series, and Alex Cora's club earned a 6-3 victory.

Boston's offense was solid in this one, recording nine hits and taking one walk while striking out nine times.

Their runs came in bunches, as Jarren Duran (2-for-4) hit a solo home run to lead the game off and just a few batters later Masataka Yoshida (1-for-4) drove in two more on a single to center. Then, in the bottom of the fifth, David Hamilton (1-for-4) drove in a run on a single, Triston Casas (2-for-3) drove Hamilton home with a double and Wilyer Abreu (2-for-4) scored Casas with a single of his own.

The Red Sox's arms held up when they needed them, as Cooper Criswell got the start, going 3 1/3 innings and allowing just one run on five hits and three walks. Greg Weissert (1 2/3 innings) and Chris Martin (one inning) both had scoreless appearances while Brennan Bernardino (two innings) and Kenley Jansen (one inning) both gave up solo home runs in the sixth and ninth innings, respectively.

This win improved Boston's record to 68-64 overall and 30-27 at home and stopped their five-game skid. These two teams will meet again on Wednesday.
