Colts may have interest in four-time Pro Bowl running back, per insider

The Indianapolis Colts reportedly may have interest in adding a big name to the backfield.

Even though Jonathan Taylor is set to reprise his role as the starter while receiving the majority of touches, the Colts may have eyes on a four-time Pro Bowl running back.

According to Clarence Hill of The ForthWorth Star-Telegram , the Colts may have a visit set up for the former second-round pick.

Once a star in the NFL, Cook struggled mightily with the New York Jets last season. He finished with 67 carries for 214 rushing yards.

In the four seasons prior (2019-2022), Cook was one of the best running backs in football recording at least 1,300 yards and six touchdowns in each of those campaigns.

Cook was a second-round pick with the Minnesota Vikings in 2017, earning four Pro Bowl nods (2019-2022) during his time there.

The Colts have Taylor to lead the backfield while Trey Sermon is nursing a hamstring injury he suffered during the preseason opener. They also surprisingly waived 2023 fifth-round pick Evan Hull during roster cuts.

The 29-year-old isn't too far off from a 264-1173-8 campaign in 2022, but the age cliff is extremely steep at running back.

This will be something to monitor leading up to Week 1 because it would certainly be a splash addition to the backfield.
