The New York Giants made one waiver claim Wednesday following the massive day of roster cuts.

Holding the No. 6 spot in the waiver order, the Giants claimed safety Anthony Johnson Jr. from the Green Bay Packers .

Johnson was a seventh-round pick (No. 242) in the 2023 NFL Draft with the Packers out of Iowa State. He appeared in 12 games while making four starts during his rookie season.

Johnson recorded one interception, three passes defensed and 24 tackles (18 solo) on 303 defensive snaps for Green Bay. He only saw 57 snaps on special teams.

In a corresponding move, the Giants waived preseason standout safety Gervarrius Owens.

Even though Owens was playing his way onto the roster with a strong showing at training camp, he suffered a knee injury during the preseason opener.

There's a chance Owens will be brought back to the practice squad if he clears waivers.
