Former Washington Commanders head coach Ron Rivera has landed a new job.  Rivera is expected to join the NFL Network and appear on Good Morning Football and other NFL Network programs during the 2024 NFL season.

Rivera, 62, was born, raised, and went to college in California where the NFL Network is based so this is a logical move for him. ( GMFB was New York-based until relocating to California this summer.)

He becomes part of a legion of former NFL coaches trading in the headsets for microphones.  Bill Belichick, Herm Edwards, and Rex Ryan are also part of NFL media.

Rivera has been a presence in the NFL as a Super Bowl Champion player (Chicago Bears) and coach since the mid-1980s. He has not publicly stated if he is retiring from coaching.  His career coaching record (including the Super Bowl appearance as the head coach of the Carolina Panthers) is 105-108-2.

The Commanders fired Rivera in the offseason replacing him with Dan Quinn.  Rivera and Quinn are former NFC South foes from their days with the Panthers and Falcons respectively.

Rivera revealed that Quinn called him to get his insights into the ownership and organization upon accepting the job.
