Seattle Seahawks sign former Mike Macdonald disciple to practice squad

The Seattle Seahawks are signing former Baltimore Ravens outside linebacker Tyus Bowser to their practice squad, one of four moves that the team just announced today.

Bowser (6-foot-3, 250 pounds) played his college ball at Houston , where he totaled 22.5 sacks and 28 tackles for a loss in 46 career games. After that, Bowser got picked in the second round of the 2017 NFL draft by the Ravens. He went on to play 89 games for Baltimore over the next six seasons, totaling 19.5 sacks and 48 quarterback hits. His best work came in 2021, when he posted a career-high seven sacks to go with 15 QB hits.

Bowser has been slowed by injuries since then, appearing in just nine games over the last two years. Seattle head coach Mike Macdonald has experience working with Bowser as he was on the Ravens' staff from 2014-2020 and again as their defensive coordinator the last two seasons after a year at Michigan.

The Seahawks are also signing free agent cornerback Faion Hicks to their practice squad. Hicks (5-foot-10, 192 pounds) played his college career at Wisconsin, then was taken in the seventh round of the 2022 NFL draft by the Denver Broncos. He only appeared in two games his rookie year, totaling 30 snaps on special teams. Hicks did not appear in a game last season and was most-recently with the Cleveland Browns.

To make room for these two on the practice squad the team released undrafted rookie offensive tackle Garrett Greenfield out of NDSU. Former Washington tight end Jack Westover was also waived with an injury settlement.
