Jets' GM boldly disputes Aaron Rodgers criticism and reported 'disarray'

New York Jets ' general manager Joe Douglas painted a starkly different picture on Thursday at 1 Jets Drive.

Douglas addressed reporters after finalizing the team's roster not long after The Athletic released a scathing report quoting an anonymous player agent.

"There is complete disarray over there. Look at how they've handled Aaron Rodgers. Has one player had more power than him? He skipped minicamp. They have been unable to convert him into a team player. The vibe inside the building is terrible," said the agent through The Athletic .

Douglas, however, suggested that not even edge rusher Haason Reddick's contract dispute has negatively affected the confidence and focus in Florham Park.

"I can tell you the locker room is in a phenomenal place. Training camp was unbelievable. The energy, the passion, the togetherness that the team shows has been pretty remarkable. So, I understand we got to talk about this, fully appreciate that, but the locker room is in a good place," said Douglas, who was pelted by questions about Reddick.

While the report hinted that Aaron Rodgers is one reason for the "disarray" in Florham Park, the Jets' general manager seemed highly satisfied with his superstar quarterback .

"He's amazing," said Douglas. "I mean obviously a first ballot Hall of Famer, and there's days where he goes out there and just doesn't miss, just the command he has of the offense, the ability to get the offense into the right play against the right defense, the accuracy, the delivery, the leadership."

Rodgers was overly criticized for missing mandatory June minicamp due to scheduling conflict with his personal international travels plans. Critics routinely omitted the fact that the four-time NFL MVP accounted for perfect attendance during voluntary OTAs and he apparently had the approval of his teammates.

With Rodgers healthy, the offensive line fortified and the defense primed to retain its Top 5 status, the Jets look, and feel, like contenders.

"I feel like this has been a remarkable training camp and I feel like this is a great collection of talent and character, as good of a collection of people as I have around in 24 years, so really I am excited about this journey," said Douglas.
